I painted Walking on Sunshine captivated by one of those ordinary moments made extraordinary by light. What drew me in was watching a mother and child wading in the shallows, completely absorbed in their own world—treasure hunting, bonding, bathed in that brilliant backlighting that transformed everything it touched.
For me, this painting is about the simple joys of coastal living—how an ordinary afternoon of playing in the shallows becomes something timeless when light conspires to make it so. There's an intimacy here, a quietness in their togetherness, that speaks to what matters most: presence, connection, and the unhurried pleasure of just being together by the water.
